BENOIT GINGRAS, sculptor

A good diyer, handy, after a bit of leatherwork and wooden toys, cabinetmaking was the best fit. As proof, 40 years of creating and reproducing furniture inspired by the “bibles” of Jean Pallardy “Meubles du Canada-français” and also Michel Lessard and Huguette Marquis “Les antiquités du Québec” (The Antiques of Quebec), all these books have influenced my craft.

In 2018, I closed my shop and retired with my lady to a rural area other than Shefford, where we lived for 40 years. Now settled in Bolton-Ouest, I’ve resumed woodworking through sculpture, drawing inspiration from my surroundings and beautiful nature.

The pleasure of being retired is to spend Sunday in the middle of the week…
