Jocelyn Huppé
Born in St-Isidore de Clifton, Jocelyn always liked to work with wood. Growing up, he had a preference for manual tasks which brought him to train in woodworking. He was a carpenter for 23 years. He then worked on maintenance in a school. His son inspired him with his love of butterflies, which started me on collecting them and using them in framed artwork. Once retired, I got inspired by looking at different wood artwork on the internet. I then started making cutting boards using local and exotic woods. The color schemes came from the different woods, not stain. I use food safe products. In 2018, I started to experiment with wood turning and my first pieces were inspired by complex master’s urns which I reproduced. Now I create pieces of my own. I love challenges, the more complex, the better.
